Makes me think of this:

A Bridge Too Far

Nat In Holiday Christmas  Threads

One of the best-known covered bridges is the 204-foot single-span Burr arch truss known as Meem's Bottom Covered Bridge in Mount Jackson. The Meem's Bottom Bridge was constructed in 1892-93 from materials cut and quarried nearby for the massive arch supports and stone abutments, which extended 10 feet below the riverbed. It was deeded to the Highway Department in the 1930's in return for assuming its maintenance.

This long span over the North Fork of the (Shenandoah) river carried traffic for more than 80 years before being burned by vandals on Halloween 1976. After salvaging the original timbers, the bridge was reconstructed and eventually undergirded with steel beams and concrete piers. The bridge was reopened to traffic in 1979 and is still in operation to date.

Andy Borowitz puts a crimp in diplomacy:

In Latest Compromise with GOP, Obama Agrees He is a Muslim

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report) – In his latest effort to find common ground with Republicans in Congress, President Barack Obama said today that he was willing to agree that he is a Muslim.
Differences over his religious orientation have been a sore point between the President and his Republican foes for the past two years, but in agreeing that he is a Muslim Mr. Obama is sending a clear signal that he is trying to find consensus.

This is Borowitz at his best, but is it good enough for this?

If Glenn Beck Was My Son...

...I'd beat the shit out of the pompous. lying, xenophobic asshole. Then I'd really get mad...

Fareed Zakaria Blasts Beck's Muslim Terrorist Claim: 'Total Nonsense'

On this Sunday's "GPS," CNN host Fareed Zakaria blasted Glenn Beck's assertion that around ten percent of Muslims are terrorists.
Beck first made the claim in a 2003 book, but it didn't attract major coverage until he repeated it last week on his radio show. Zakaria said Beck's claims were ludicrous.
 ***
"Beck wondered why this wasn't receiving any media coverage," he said. "Well, let me suggest one reason. It is total nonsense. A figure made up by Glenn Beck with absolutely no basis in fact."
***
Zakaria also debunked the response from Beck's producer Steve "Stu" Burguiere to the controversy Beck created. On his blog, Burguiere said that Beck was citing polls showing that many Muslims advocated or supported violent action against the United States, and that this matched the dictionary definition of terrorism.
"Of course, the FBI, the State Department and most other organizations define terrorists in the more common sense that they are well, terrorists, but never mind," Zakaria said. "Hating America is not the same thing as being a terrorist."
Zakaria also noted that many polls show a substantial percentage of Americans are angry with the government.
"Does supporting such anger against the American government make one a terrorist?" he said. "According to Glenn Beck's producer and his dictionary.com definition, maybe, but in that case, how would one describe a man who has been fuelling (sic) such singer against the American government on television daily for the last two years? How, in other words, would one describe Glenn Beck?"

House Votes Rare Censure of Rangel in Ethics Case

...during the Battle of Kunu-ri. Despite shrapnel wounds, Rangel led 40 of his comrades for three days behind enemy lines rather than surrender. He was later recognized for his bravery with the Purple Heart, a Bronze Star, a Presidential Unit Citation, the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, and three battle stars. "Since Kunu-ri ," Rangel says, "I have never, never had a bad day."
What a shameful bunch of assholes. This is the only thing the hypocritical scumbags could agree on.
